Functions of Human Immune System

-->
Each of us is born with the best doctor in the world our immune system. A healthy and well-cared for immune system effectively prevents most illnesses.

In today’s complex world, our lifetimes are spent in an effort to obtain wealth, a family, social status, things perceived as measures of success and happiness in life. However, in this frantic race for success, we often fail to protect the one thing that has the power to take it all away; our health. Without good health, it is impossible to enjoy the things we have worked so hard to achieve.

Cancer, heart disease and other non-infectious illnesses have become the leading causes of death in the world today. Such diseases are a direct result of the poor eating habits and unhealthy lifestyles common among the peoples of highly developed nations.

Terrible new infectious disease such ebola, pulmonary tuberculosis and the hanta virus also pose a very real threat to our health. In fact, every 15 seconds, someone contracts an infectious disease. Despite significant medical advances, disease continues to run rampant, claiming millions of lives every year.

Not so long ago, the US congress organized a study of American’s medical needs, they found out the prevention of disease through proper nutrition more important than development of new medical equipment and drugs.

Improper nutrition can imbalance the immune system and decrease vital immune function, allowing the body to become ill. The vast majority of diseases are caused by an imbalance in the immune system. A proper nourish immune system, however, has all the ammunition it needs to ward off infection and protect the body from the many daily threats it faces.

Like an army defending our bodies, all components of the immune system work together to defeat invading diseases. Every system in the body contains immune cells, which are designed to prevent disease, clean out toxins, repair damage and keep the body healthy. Immune cells are manufactured by the lymphoid system, which is made up of the bone morrow, the thymus, the tonsils, spleen, lymph nodes, peyer’s patches and the appendix.

Man made drugs can never take the place of a healthy immune system. Scientists have made countless attempts to stimulate the immune system with drugs and chemicals, only to discover the devastating side effects these substances can have. A healthy immune system can be maintained only through regular exercise, emotional stability and proper nutrition.

Proper nutrition has been studied for centuries both in the Orient and in western countries, many recipes and secret formula are purported to have nutritious properties, but scientific evidence does not exist to support these claims. Western countries have developed vitamins as a way to achieve better health, but recent studies show that vitamins can cause side effects, without the intended health benefits they were believed to provide. A million dollar study on vitamins by the Finnish government, the incidence of heart disease and cancer was actually found to be higher among vitamin users.

The immune system is far superior to any medication. It can effectively battle disease without having adverse effects on the body. Proper nutrition and a healthy immune system are closely connected. A study shows that by consuming various plant foods can improve the function of the immune system.
